Has anyone seen a touchscreen response pattern like this, and knows if it is a hardware or software problem?
I have done a software repair and done a hard reset several times. The odd thing is the pattern changes sometimes when I do a reset, once it even worked fine for a few minutes then trained itself to fail again.
I have disassembled the phone several time, checked all the ribbon connectors, swapped parts from another Z3 and if it is a hardware problem it must be something in the digitizer itself.
But it is strange that if it is hardware, why does resetting the phone fix it for 60 seconds, then it fails?
Thanks.
As you've said it, this seems to be a hardware issue, perhaps there's a faulty ribbon, there are myriad options, you might want to replace the LCD/Digitizer and report back.
Probably, it's strange though - usually hardware digitizer flaws are in a strip or block, I haven't seen these patches by the keys before. Almost like a keyboard response training algorithm has gone wrong. There are routines that optimize for flaws in response zones, it's like one of those is not working right. Which actually, depending on how Sony implements it, could be coded right on the LCD/digitizer. A reset could temporarily fix this and then the screen trains itself I guess. Thought maybe someone else has seen it too.
having the same problem here. can't type directly on the forum (see previous fails)
