After the 6.0.1 my battery drains like a rocket. I used (before the "upgrade") to pull it off the charger around 5:00A.M. and by 11:00P.M. I still had around 35-40% Battery (I'm a moderate to light user). Now (Sunday); after the update to 6.0.1 (I didn't receive the update until Saturday) I pulled my phone off of the charger around 8:30A.M. and by Noon it was at about 40% battery left. Thank God today was Sunday and I didn't need to use my phone. In fact the phone literally sat next to me (screen off) and the battery discharged that much, I didn't send a text, make a call or have any "Social Media" running!
I was able to re-start in "SafeMode" and the battery only discharged another 10% over the next 6 hours. As far as I can tell this phone is almost as useless as my old HTC Thunderbolt that ran out of gas by 4:00P.M. There is no way it will make it through the day and get me home; it's at this point a "Paper weight".
In addition to that I had all sorts of problems w/ it not connecting to the WiFi (I had to give it a "static" I.P. address & totally re-work my Asus RT-N66u) just to get it to stay connected & that should not be necessary!
The front "blinking light" notification no longer works when I recieve a text or email. Who knows what else may or "may not" work anymore.
Is this Sony's way of getting you to purchase a new phone and toss this one in a lake; oh wait, it's "water proof", I'll have to find a better way to distroy it so none of my "personal" imformation remains: Hmm Microwave?
This is very sad to me: I did a lot of research before I purchased this phone and they are not popular here in the U.S. but, I took a chance on it and it served me well but, only for just about a year. I paid "cash out of pocket" to purchase the phone vs some contract deal: Now I'm just plain "Cash out of pocket" and no functional phone.
Today I pulled my phone from the charger (100% charge) at 5:00A.M. and was out of the shower and out the door by 5:20A.M. my phone had already dropped to 94% (Nothing running, phone screen off). I re-booted in "Safe mode": (Power off: Power on w/ the speaker rocker held in the down position until it finishes booting but, let go of the power button once it starts to boot). I left my phone in "Safe mode" until 5:30P.M. and the battery was still at 78% (one or two short calls and two text and two replies) during the day. Phone in my upper shirt pocket stayed cool all day!
After I left work I rebooted my phone (no longer in "Safe mode"); still at 78% and after my 1 hour commute; my battery had dropped to 47% battery. When I got home; I looked at the batter & usage and, Google play was at the top of the list at 40% useage (no calls - no text on the way home) and, once again my phone was warm-to-hot to the touch (on the back side).
I went in to my Google play (listed as "play store" in the apps) and unchecked; (everything) auto update apps, only update when connected to WiFi, etc: Everything!
Now my phone (though still slightly still warm to touch - no longer hot) has maintained battery at 43% (from 47%) roughly 3 1/2 hours later.
This might be the fix to the: "battery drains too fast". There are still other issuses that need to be addressed but, I will try running my phone in "non-"SafeMode" tomorrow for the full day (all of the Google play settings disabled) and see how the battery holds up.
I'll post up my results tomorrow night. -Davis
Phone has died in my pocket a few times this week due to new improved obsolesense, even when using Battery Saver. Before I could easily get through a weekend, now 18 hours is touch and go
No I will not let you stall me by asking for screenshots, battery logs etc. It worked fine before 6.0.1 and now its a disaster
Fix it immediately!!
