Xperia Z stops charging after a few seconds

Since the latest update my phone will connect to the PC, Dock and Wall Charger but does not charge after a few seconds. The battery light turns off and the battery symbol goes back to normal (no lightning bolt). The battery level remains at a constant until I unplug the phone. It niether drains or charges the battery.

I have reset the phone by holding the POWER and VOLUME UP for 10 seconds.

I have reset the phone using the update service.

I have turned the phone off and 'charged' it using all three above methods.

I have used every different USB and charger configration I have.

I have almost given up on this stupid thing.

I recieved a reply from Sony Support saying it is most likely a battery problem and I could send it in for repair. Sadly my wife and I couldn't find any of our proof of purchase documents. It was the only phone I bought outright. A lesson to be learned is in there somewhere.

Stare at it fondly until the battery dwindles down to 0% and maybe even shed a tear as it was the best phone i ever owned. At least my tears wouldn't damage it. Might have to get a cheap (old) phone whilst avoiding every single ad for the new Z2

They should offer you assistance for money.

Yeah, way too many outgoings at the moment so can't do it for awhile. At least I now know who to contact in the future and to make sure we don't throw away paperwork when we move house.
