Have a z5 compact. I've never owned a phone that was so slow at opening apps, closing apps, constantly freezes up especially when I have an incoming call and phone freezes and won't do anything when pressing the answer button.
Even my z1 was far better than this phone.
I've tried factory reset. I've tried reinstalling software through pc companion. Nothing seems to make it run any better.
Any ideas anyone as Sony support has been useless on previous occasions.

Yes I've done the software repair and still the fingerprint login does not work.

it doesn't work as it doesn't read your fingerprint or it doesn't even vibrate (which means its not working at all)?

The sensor is vibrating. I've cleaned it. Rubbed it and shouted at it. All I get is the above message.

I have had an identical experience. On paper it looked like the perfect phone. In reality it is the worst technology item I have ever owned. I am going to replace it with a stock android phone. Buyers beware !!

Have now got a galaxy s7. I was fed up with my hand getting overly hot. The sensor started to work after the update. But the phone started to slow down. That was the last straw.

My daughters z3 is still going strong. A great phone. After that they are poor. Bye bye sony

I agree. Worst phone I've ever owned. Really regret going with Sony.

I have had z5 premium for 8 months and have just sent it back for repair for the 4th time, I should be able to get a refund for this contract but no I have to keep sending it back for repair and they can never repair so I get a refurbished one... Sony have lost me with this phone the z series got me away from Apple and the z5 is sending me straight back...
