"POWER OFF" in this image is a "soft button" and when I tap on it NOTHING HAPPENS.
I tap on the "return" "soft button" on the left down side corner so I can "leave" (bypass) this screen and continue booting my phone...
<------------------ THIS IS WHAT I SEE ON MY SCREEN WHEN I TURN IT ON
What is com.sonyericsson.startupflagservice 2 ?
When I repair my phone xperia Z2 , after booting and before I have the chance to unlock my sim with pin number , a big black screen with a power off button appears. When I tap on it , nothing happens. It is there because of an app , a startup sony service , with the name startupflagservice 2.
PLEASE CAN YOU EXPLAIN WHAT THIS IS ?

PROBLEM IS SOLVED BY SONY

Earlier today I went @ the central Sony centre support , and talked about com.sonyericsson.startupflagservice causing the POWER OFF black screen again. I thought I would leave the phone there but the technicians asked me to wait there. After almost one hour of waiting (I don't remember exactly) they told me that the phone was successfully restored to a "factory condition".
I said that I want to check it out before I leave and they were very positive and polite. I first boot it up ...no com.sonyericsson.startupflagservice , checked the firmware version and if my bootloader allowed was still in "yes" status....no com.sonyericsson.startupflagservice ... and after 1-2 minutes I did a factory reset in front of them. After my phone booted up there was no black screen power off. I asked them , "If I will restore via PC Companion and appears again, then what ?" , they answered that this will not happen with confidence (I think so). I kept asking ... what if ... and they said that we will speak again in case this happens again. I asked what is the cause of the problem and the answer was that other people had the same problem and Sony released a patch some days ago... (two or three days ago) he couldn't remember, (I asked and explain him of course, because a week ago to ten days they did the same repair but with different results) and they now could repair the phone by attaching this patch during the procedure.
I went @ my house , reinstalled PC Companion did a repair and NO BLACK SCREEN WITH TURN OFF message 🙂
This process is a part of the phones firmware but i'm not sure of its purpose. I will try to find some information about it.
Did this happen also before you started modifying the phones software using 3:rd party tools (http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Android-development/Problems-with-unlocking-Z2-bootloader/m-p/844289)? It may perhaps be related to that.
Hello and thanks for the response ,
Actually I didn't have the chance to use third party software and I couldn't unlock my bootloader... the problem was that I didn't have the correct drivers. I decided to go for support to a SONY service.
LONG STORY SHORT: 1) I had problems with play store , it was loading and loading and loading.... but couldn't start even when I repaired my phone with official sony software.
2) I red here about the xda development team and I visited their web page trying to find a solution.
3) I have seen on the internet in fora of discussions (on XDA also) that many problems on xperia devices can be bypassed when you install a custom but "stable" official rom. Of course this can void your warranty if something goes wrong and you can't repair your device by your own (using official sony programs like Bridge for mac or sony pc suite.
4) I DID NOT SUCCEED TO INSTALL A CUSTOM ROM BECAUSE I COULDN'T UNLOCK THE BOOT LOADER.
5) THE com.sonyericsson.startupflagservice 2 "PROBLEM" STARTED BEFORE I TRIED TO UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER , AFTER A SUCCESSFULLY REPAIR WITH SONY PC SUITE SOFTWARE.
6) FROM THE SONY CENTER THEY KNOW BECAUSE I TOLD THEM EVERY DETAIL I COULD , AND THEY ANSWERED THAT I AM ON WARRANTY BECAUSE THE BOOTLOADER IS LOCKED AND THE PHONE CAN BE OFFICIALLY REPAIRED.
7) They did a repair but the same "POWER OFF" screen appeared , and they sent my mobile AFTER THEY DECIDED that this is not normal , to another sony center service so they can change phone's motherboard.
😎 After a week I took the mobile back and they said that it was a software problem that they fixed.
9) I WAS VERY VERY HAPPY
10) After 1-2 days playstore couldn't start AGAIN. I decided to do a "FACTORY RESET" from the phone's setting menu. After the factory reset finished my phone booted and this "POWER OFF" black screen appeared AGAIN.
PERSONALLY to you Rickard : I thank you for the responce , BUT PLEASE DO NOT MAKE CONCLUSIONS LIKE "before you started modifying the phones software using 3:rd party tools" BECAUSE I DIDN'T (COULDN'T in my case because I had to install adb drivers e.t.c. and I was very TIRED both physically and psychologically to do that).
P.S
FROM SONY CENTER (THIS TIME VIA PHONECALL COMMUNICATION) TOLD ME THAT THIS SERVICE "com.sonyericsson.startupflagservice 2" CAN BE STARTED BECAUSE OF USB DEBUGGING ENABLED OPTION (if I can remember correctly). The person was very POLITE and he suggested to do another repair and they will call me back tomorrow. I did another repair with sony bridge but unfortunately the same problem is there...
P.S 2
FROM SONY REPAIR CENTER the technician who repaired the phone told me that the software they use is not sony pc suite , that it is professional software that only official SONY SUPPORT REPAIR CENTERS have and this is erasing all the phone's DATA . After he did that he was anxious somehow that "POWER OFF" message appeared again , and he told me that I SHOULDN'T leave my z2 like that and it has to be fixed.
thank you and sorry for the long long "long story short"

Glad to hear that the problem is solved.
I have now received more information about this app and it's an app used during production to verify that the touch input works. It's triggered when a specific TA-parameter is not set but before the phone leaves production this parameter is set so you should not see this in a unit you buy in a store.
If pressing power off doesn't work and remove this pop-up permanently you need to contact a service location to have the phone flashed with a specific update. A repair in PC Companion or Bridge for Mac can't fix this i'm afraid.
For more information about how to submit your phone for service and where, contact your local support team.
Hi Rickard
I my previous post i have mention about the problem about com.sonyericsson.startupflagservice 2 & i am still suffering from this issue for time being i have force stop this service which is letting the phone to to move to sleep mode as configure.
Is there no way other than taking the phone to repair, Sony should find a way to resolve this issue through a update via software repair it will be much helpfull to every one.
This is not the matter for one or two mobile i have read many post of user who are suffering with this issue.
If pressing the power off button doesn't work and remove this popup permanently i'm afraid there's no other solution than to contact a service location.
Hi there,
just an advice : GO AT A SERVICE AND REPAIR SUPPORT CENTER (CENTRAL) DO NOT GO AT ANY SMALL STORE WITH JUST A LABEL SONY SUPPORT. In my country / city the "small" sony support store couldn't help me and I lost time ... a week actually ... .You could also phone them and ask to speek with a technician first. Ask him/her about the patch ...
READ CAREFULLY THE POST WITH THE SOLUTION
cheers!
