Had a phone for nearly two years but about 6months ago broke the screen while the phone was in my pocket and was wondering if it is still under warranty or not as when I took it to the shop and asked could they fix it they said no

Warranties are normally 12mths.

In some countries your network carrier guarantees it for the length of your contract. 

Both might be different in various countries and probably wouldn't cover a broken screen, unless a promotion screen warranty was offered at time of purchase etc.
