USB OTG does not work

Devices are detected by the phone but do not run. For instance a Seek thermal camera that used to run on my Z1 does not work. It is detected by apps such as Easy OTG checker. I've followed the steps in Settings-> Xperia connectivity

In the Quick Settings is a "Dectect USB" function. After turning on and plugging in your USB device use that function and your Z3+ will see the USB attached device.

Sony / Android implemented this feature so now the phone doesn't permanently scan for USB devices (as previous phones did) thus saving battery.

Trying to connect my Canon digital camera so that I can move files off the camera but for some reason the phone does not detect the USB device. I have tried connecting the camera directly and removing the Compact flash card through a card reader and neither works - it also does not work with a different camera using an Sd card.
As a cross check I used my wife's z3 compact and it worked fine. Is the USB hosting on my phone broken or is there a change in the software for the Z3+ that prevents me doing this?

It might be that the data connection over USB hibernates by default to save power.

Either pull down the shortcuts menu and click on Detect USB Device, or go into Settings > Xperia Connectivity > USB Connectivity and select Detect USB Device from there.

Hopefully that should solve the issue.

Afraid I've tried that - have used the detect USB device option but it just says connected and then nothing changes - memory card still not mounted. I've got all the power saving options switched off but still nothing. Don't understand why this would work on a z3 compact but not a z3+

Hi @timultima, sorry to hear that. Slightly_frowning_Face

If your phone is unable to find a connected device when you choose to detect USB device it could be because it isn't connected properly. Do you connect the USB drive using an OTG cable or is the USB drive designed to be connected directly to the phone's micro USB port?

Another reason could be that the USB drive uses a format other than FAT32 and exFAT that the phone can't read. If that's the case it needs to be reformatted which can be done on a PC.

My device don't detect any usb device such as flash memory or even mouse via any OTG module too.
This happen by considering that my smart phone connect to computer or charger correctly via the cable.
I update my software to android 6 and 7 too, but my OTG conectivity still don't work.
Please help me, how to fix it??? ILOVE MY XPERIA Z3+ very much and i want to use its full options and features.

Hello @sa2119 and welcome to the community!

After you connect a USB device to your Xperia, you need to go to Settings -> Device connection -> USB Connectivity -> Detect USB device.
