Hi,
this seems to be a known issue for Android 5.0.2. A new update is already being prepared for the Z series (including the fix for that wired telephone quality bug on EDGE for the Z1 Compact). Android 5.1 seems to be scheduled for July for the whole Z series.
My Z3 compact has just started overheating according to a battery info app regular temp is 36 degree C.
This is in normal use emails/texts/phone calls, not 4K or watching videos. The main issue for me is that this is running the battery down extremely quickly, so I hope that the fix comes sooner rather than later!
Is there anything else I can do in the mean time as I don't fancy factory resetting the phone?
I've restarted the phone with the power button and with the button next to the sim card.
Is there a good way to look at background apps which may be using the power to run the battery down quickly?
Thanks
Joe
Take a look on Settings -> Power management -> Battery usage, and detect which are the top app that drain your battery. Also do the same in Settings -> Data usage and see if there's an app leeching your data connection as this can increase your phone temperature also.
i downloaded an app called clean master - everytime i play sim city my phone heats up, so when i close the game, i give it a quick cool-down with the clean master app. works a treat. its only a temporary solution, but works.
Try doing a backup of all your data on internal memory and perform a PC Companion phone repair, this will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory.
Open PC companion -> Support zone -> Phone/tablet software update -> Repair my phone/tablet (blue link style). Follow the steps given, do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.
