Android version 4.4.4
Sony Xperia Z3 Compact
When I use the pre-installed Messaging app I get the following error message for some but not all contacts
" [!] Cannot send message
Message has no valid recipient "
I can't work out what is is about the contacts that results in the error but today I had the error when trying to text to an iPhone and a Blackberry. Just to be clear, some contacts produce that error message every time; some contacts work properly every time.
It's becoming more than a little frustrating and at the moment I'm wondering why did I not just get another iPhone?
Anyway, all suggestions gratefully received...
Where are those contacts (that you get errors with) stored? Are they synced?
Hi - and thanks for replying.
All my contacts are stored on my phone (I haven't added an SD card to it yet) and synced to my Google account.
[I'm fairly new to Android so if you need more details please can you talk me thorugh ti in fairly basic terms...]
Try settings-apps-all-contacts,force stop and clear data. Make sure to have a backup of your contacts on the SD or SIM.
Restart the device.
Already tried that (based on a previous post of your which I googled). No joy...
It gets a bit weirder.
Taking the contact I tried to text earlier:
If I go to the contacts app, and select the messaging icon next to his mobile number, the text message which I compose is sent properly.
If I open the messaging app, select write new message and select his name, the text is not sent and the error message appears.
It's not at all satisfactory.
In this case, follow the same path but look for messages. Hit force stop and clear data. Have a backup of the messages too.
What to do
