My MIC also broke recently (or has been turned off) ...

My phone is exactly 2 years and 1 month old since activation - so maybe the Planned obsolescence kicked in Grinning_Face (putting tinfoil hat on)

Hello everyone and I'm sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

@MartinK, since yours mic does not work outside of a call either, can you do the Diagnostics test for the microphone and see how it behaves here? The test can be found in Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Tests > Microphone.

@Johnbobs, You can also do the microphone test that I recommended to @MartinK and also try enabling the speaker phone during a call, as there are two microphones on the device and the second one will be used when the device is set to speaker mode during a call, or when recording a video.

Let me know how it goes!

Hi...

I've found out that my mic's are totally broken Slightly_frowning_Face

When recording video, the audio is all scrambled.

When making a call, the mic is sending scambled audio to the counterpart ... but apparantly the microphone used when using the "speaker phone" ability, the microphone audio is OK ??

I guess i need to either buy a new phone or get it fixed Slightly_frowning_Face

@MartinK, Hi again and very sorry to hear that neither of the microphones seems to be working very well for you. Slightly_frowning_Face

Since the sound is scrambled it does sound like it could be related to hardware rather than software, but just to make sure, try performing a software repair using Xperia Companion.

Remember to create a backup using Xperia Companion before starting with the repair, since all data will be deleted from the internal storage.

Should there be no change after the software repair, your Local support team will assist you further if you want to send it in for repairs and if you have any questions regarding warranty, local service routines and so forth, so please get in touch with them!

Feel free to keep me posted!
