Is it better to drain battery or top up charge?

I had my phone on charge yesterday at work but didn't fully reach 100% (I think it got to around 80%).  I leave phone on over night and I'm now around 60%.

I do let the battery drain completely sometimes, but just wondering what's better, complete drainage or top up charging?

You don't have to let the battery drain nor charge it 100% all the time, just charge it whenever you can

keep in mind that you can't over charge the phone.
