GPS tracking in Stamina Mode?

I'm trying to get select apps such as Strava, Polar Beat, Locus Map etc. for tracking outdoor exercise to work in Stamina mode. Whenever Stamina mode is on and the screen is off, none of these apps can access the GPS, making it impossible to use any of these apps meaningfully. Putting these apps and/or LocationServices under the list of non-battery-optimised apps doesn't change anything either.

My current workaround is to switch off Stamina mode during exercise but it then drains my battery much more than it should (yes, I know most of this drain is due to the GPS but I don't get the savings from restricting background data and other aspects of Stamina mode).

I've searched the net up and down for months for a solution but haven't found anything useful. Does anyone know how GPS tracking can be made to work in Stamina mode?

I have the same problem. Also, I have tried to find the GPS under services to except from power saving restrictions, but cannot find it. Really annoying, and actually the GPS service doesn't use that much power - I have tested during days of hunting in the mountains.
