Cannot turn off annoying voice notifications for email

So - new phone is fine, pretty much set up how I want. Except every time email syncs I get a really annoying female voice telling me "47,00 unread emails". Have looked at every setting and cannot turn this off anywhere I can find. I'd still like the led, a vibration and something in the notification bar - just not this ridiculous bit of speech. Any ideas?

Are you using the preinstalled Email application?

I suggest that you check if the TalkBack function is activated via Settings > Accessibility > TalkBack > In the top right corner you have the ON/OFF button for this function.

No, judging by the fact it's 47,000 unread messages I'm guessing it's gmail. Talk back is turned off; driving mode is turned off; all notifcations are turned off in gmail. Still getting the voice.

Sounds strange. Could you run your phone in safe mode for a while to see if same thing happens?

OK - that got to the bottom of it, a third-party app brought over by mistake from my old phone! Thanks for the help.
