The Disable Touchscreen with Screen Off does not work consistantly on my XZ2 compact. Although the feature is enabled more often than not when i place the phone in my pocket, apps are activated, calls are accidently made, the torch is activated etc etc.
The finger print manager is enabled together with a pattern in screen lock. No smart lock features are enabled. In theory when the sceen is turned off before i put the phone in my pocket the only way to unlock the screen to make calls, send messages etc is via the fingerprint or pattern unlock features. This is not the case and the phone is reguarly activated when in my pocket.
There is also a possibly related issue with the screen on/off button. In theory when the screen is turned off, if it is pressed again to turn it on I should have to use the fingerprint or pattern unlock feature to unlock the phone. This is often not the case and the phone will very frequantly unlock when the screen is turned back on without using either the fingerprint or pattern unlock features.
Can anyone help?
Do you have Power Button Instantly Locks enabled ?.
If the xz2 is the same as the xz1 then the setting is in Lock Screen & Security - press the cog wheel next to Screen Lock, and the setting is there.
Hi Tizer.
Thanks for your response.
You are correct the XZ1 & XZ2 have the same features & access for the screen lock. I had already set the Power button instantly locks so I will need to find another solution.
The Power button instantly locks can be over ridden by one of the Smart Lock features - On-body detection, Trusted Places, Trusted devices, Trusted face and Voice match. I checked these again and none have been switched on/activated.
Do you have any other thoughts on what may resolve this? As the phone is only 3 months old it may be a case of returning it under warranty for Sony to resolve.
