Hi I have been having problems with my xz premium battery since the oreo update, it used to be really good but now runs out very quickly. I have looked on this forum and seen people have had issues with WiFi and the camera but no problem here, just the battery. The figures In the battery usage screen don't seem to add up either, I have screen shots but am unable to upload them at present. I used to have like 40% left by the end of the day but now it runs out well before bed time and I haven't changed the way I use it. I have updated everything in play store and tried several restarts over the last week but it's still the same, any help would be appreciated. Many thanks brendan
unfortunately I do not see the pictures you posted (yet)
they are there, post number 3
i am unable to try software repair at the moment as my laptop is an old vaio with vista on it and the phone wont connect to pc companion, i will download it onto a newer pc tomorrow and give it a go, many thanks
After such an important software update it is recommended you do a factory reset so that everything calibrates well in the new environment.
I also had a few minor issues after the oreo update but
a factory reset solved them all.
I am a heavy user, Internet, mailing, gaming, calls and I don't think I ever leave my phone alone for more than ten minutes every hour. Still, late at night my battery holds up to a minimum 20 percent before recharging.
PS. I also have video calls on whassap for at least an hour a day.
In conclusion, this is the best Sony smartphone yet.
So, do a factory reset and wipe it clean. It won't disappoint you. 😊
Another useful trick is to use a programable power outlets which cuts off the charging power by itself after 3 or 4 hours per night while charging, according to your wish. They are cheap and really do well to the battery on the long run. 😉

I'm having problems with my battery too, it's not bad it's just don't last the same as in Nougat, plus the consumption on stand by has increased, there is another thread talking about the same,(I posted a very long and detailed reply there, with screenshots comparing Nougat with Oreo) and yes I did factory reset after updating.
Last night I leave my phone with 98 % and just woke up with 90 % battery
Basically very strange situation.
I recommend to send your phone to service center for inspection, inform them about the situation via e-mail (attach the screenshots).
But in Nougat worked perfectly

@Bren1986 wrote:i have only google play store apps on the phone, no third party apps at all. i will try the software repair, hope for the best, im wondering if im alone with this problem, cant seem to see many others in the forum with battery problems
@Bren1986"third party apps" means "apps that didn't come preinstalled on your phone". some app you've downloaded might be draining your battery, that's why @uliwooly suggested you to try booting to safe mode.
Yup, having the same issue. Battery drains overnight like crazy! Used to be 1-2% on Nougat now it's more like 4-5%.
Don't listen to Sony mods here trying to blame 3rd party apps. This is sony messing up the update period. I tested it by doing software repair and leaving phone WITHOUT installing any apps beforehand and the drain was exactly the same. This proves it's not a 3rd party app.
Battery life was amazing on Noughat now it's average at best on Oreo...
So what makes you so sure it is a Sony problem and not a Google Oreo problem? Just Google Oreo Bugs (Oh the irony) and you will see more complaints than you could read in a lifetime. Sony, Samsung, LG, HTC, etc., etc. do not make the OS...that is Google. And they are the ones who are responsible to fix these inherent issues. Does Sony have the ability to fix these things that are baked into the OS??? I don't know. But one thing I do know is that on most phones, the OS that they are sold with usually runs the best. Many people constantly clamor for the latest/greatest upgrade only to whine the loudest when it breaks their phones.
Google needs to STOP making "new" versions of Android and just FIX the ones in use!
