Xperia SP WIFI range ISSUE

Hi, i have just bought Sp 2 days back

I am facing wifi range problem the device does not catch the range where my other phone catches the range at good wifi signal strength.

the distance is like 3 to 5 meters less then my black berry

Is there any settings that i need to see for the wifi range.

I've requested a refund, not even sure if i will be able to return my phone and get my money back. It is a mystery to me why i wouldn't be able to, since the wi-fi of the phone is definitely not working as it is supposed to... Anyways, i am hoping that i can either return my phone or that we will get a firmware update fixing all of the wifi problems.

Am also facing the same issue.. My old samsung monte can catch a proper signal 2 rooms across with 2 brick walls in between.. But xperia sp keeps dropping the signal many times..

Why is this question assumed answered when so many people are reporting the same issue..

I hope there is some fix for this in ther near future..

I dont think there is any fix. I visited the service center today. The executive said "this problem will be there. If you want I will replace the motherboard, but I can not assure you that problem will go. this problem is there for all devices." When I told them how is my iphone able to catch stable signal, the answer was "Iphone has some other technology and their hardware is different, we can not match that!!". This is the answer we get an "Authorized Service Center" of Sony!!!

Support Guys - Is this what customers should expect after spending money on the phone?

Hi, I have the same wi-fi issues, although I believe this may be a software problem:

I have a full wi-fi signal on my SP and yet there is something preventing data from loading/almost like an error or time-out? Even when my SP is within a few feet of the router I still get data time-outs.

Every other device in the house that uses wi-fi has no problems regardless of distance.

This really needs to be sorted, it's pretty much unusable, especially on YouTube.

Is Sony listening to their customers?

My router was set to channel 13 and Xperia SP couldn't even find the SSID. With the phone 1 inch away from the router - nothing.

I changed the router wifi channel to 11 and now the Xperia SP found the network and has good signal, even through a brick chimney. Signal strength is equal to Xperia Sola and Nexus 7 tablet.

So try different wifi channels in your router and see if it helps.

Worked perfectly for me.

Had exactly the same issue with my SP's wifi. Weak reception comparing to my old smart phone. Connection was lost many times. Called Sony tech support but nothing spectacular from their side.

Then I tried some wifi boosters found in Play store and for the last 5 days I did not have a single incident of lost wifi connection. I think this is the solution to the wifi issue until Sony releases a software update

Hi dim2401, can you post the name of the application.thanks!

Hi unfortunately this application is no longer in the Play store for some reason I really don't know. Maybe the developer removed it or Play store did for some reason. It happens all the time.

However I suggest to do what I did. Search in the Play store for "wifi signal booster" or simply "wifi booster" and you will find plenty. Try some of those with the best reviews. Remember that some of them free apps are are classified from antivirus softaware as adware but would not worry too much about it as long as they do the job and are no real threat.

And something else. It's the 6th day today without a single incident of lost wifi connection when previously had at least 4-5 incidents per hour's usage. This proves something.

Hope I helped

regards

Dim

Can someone from Sony confirm that the WIFI problem is being investigated?
