Weak reception and No mobile data after screen replacement

I replaced a cracked screen of my new Xperia Z3, easy enough.

Now I get very poor cell reception. If I'm in a strong signal area it connects OK but the signal goes from full signal to none all the time.

This problem did not exist before, I had never seen the red X on the signal icon before.

Have checked all connections etc and done a restore but still the same.

I know I had to remove and replace the antenna module/cable to replace the screen, I was careful not to damage it.

Any ideas or anyone else had this ?

Did you fit the cable back correctly and did you damage the antena module? apart from that there's nothing else I can say or do to help

Hi Sali_Yak,

Welcome to the community,

If this has become an issue since your self repair, then I can only really advise that you seek out a service agent, they would likely be able to resolve this issue for you, however this would not be under warranty.

To be brutally honest, the guy replaced the screen Himself BECAUSE sony service center asks 200$ to screen replacement. I got it for 20$ from china. Not at all low quality, exact same color.

even i had same problem, service center instead of fixing this problem said, whole screen will be replaced with the official one for 200$, and as we are not stupid, i said no. Caused me trouble for a week, but after researching found the issue.

after you attact the LCD ribbon with the back cables there is a Metal shield, which covers it.
that metal shield should be placed perfectly, so that it touches the bottom of the plates as Xperia Z3 (and iphone 4) Use the full midframe as antenna, that fixed it for me.
