Does your phone has a protective case? if it does, remove it, if it doesn't probably the camera button it's acting up and you should get it repaired by your Local support

in the mean time

open the camera > settings > more > quick launch > off

I'm sorry to hear about that.

For how long has this been going on that the camera starts by itself? How often would you say this happens, is it a few times per day or a few times per week?

Do you remember if this behaviour started after you updated your phone or installed an application?

As @uliwooly wrote, if you have a case on your phone please try and remove it since it might be the cause of the camera being activated, due to the quick launch function in the camera application and the camera button on the right side of your phone.

You can turn this feature off if you open up the camera application > gear icon in the bottom right > More > Quick launch > OFF.

This will disable the camera button on the side of the phone.
