Not impressed now with my Xperia z3 compact which has been playing up for several weeks and getting worse.
Main problem is the touch screen which is becoming increasingly unusable.
Started off with be being unable to use the letters t g and u and that's now spreading. Couldn't type in my internet banking password this morning and now the dial pad is unreliable.
I did a Google yesterday and found various videos on how to replace the screen - with great difficulty it seems - and also many complaints about screen problems. So obviously a lot of people are having problems.
I spoke to Sony this morning and discovered there is only one authorised repair centre in Australia, in Villawood, that would charge $200 if the screen is found to be damaged - can't see any damage. But it's their call.
Just very disappointed.
Have had this phone since December 2014, replacing my much loved Xperia Active.
Basically I think there is something wrong with the screen on this model.
I am shocked that Sony wants to make money out of people when the screen is defective. They should recall and replace.
No looking at a previous thread a lot of people on this board have reported problems withparts of the screen not working.
I've never had a phone problem like this before so not an issue. I think there are problems with this model.
Did you try performing a software repair using PC Companion? It can be a software issue afterall.
OK...so It's going back to the Telstra shop tomorrow and then to the Australian repair centre as it's under warranty.
As I suspected the factory reset did nothing and the Sony PC Companion did nothing to solve the problem of a frozen vertical centre strip in my phone.
I could not even log in to my Google account to set things up so had to create another account using only letters and numbers to the left and right of the screen.
Not impressed at all.
It's worth noting that there is no Sony input on this screen problem - or the computer under the screen which is what I'm thinking because mine isn't cracked.
Interesting that Sony staff reply to some threads and not others. Was told this morning over the phone by the Telstra shop that this model is a dud
I've got almost exactly the same problem, a strip of the touchscreen on my Z3 Compact isn't responding. Not looking forward to sending it in to that single Australian repair centre, but at least it's somewhat reassuring to know I'm not the only one with the problem.
You can test the touch screen in the service menu, not sure if you can still access this though if you can't dial numbers.
Dial *#*#7378423#*#* > Service tests > Touch Screen
