Mic on Xperia Tablet Z is incredibly quiet; no settings to increase.

Skype is impossible using the built-in microphone.  I've installed other apps as well to test the playback, and it's very quiet across the board.  Is this a limitation of the hardware or software, and is it possible to fix?

When can we expect to get an answer from Sony. It's been over a month now !

Is it a hardware or a software error?

I believe that the problem is due to a lack of controls for audio systems.

I solved by installing the app "Sound Manager" from Google Play, which allows me to adjust the individual volumes (microphone, media, system, etc.).

Now Skype works perfectly with these settings:

Alarm: 7/7

Media: 13/15

Ringer: 7/7

System 6/7

Voice Call: 5/5

If your friends have an echo return, you can try to further reduce the parameters of "Media" and "System".

However I look hopeful a solution by Sony ...

Ive just called the xperia UK helpdesk about the issue. Aparently it's something they've only been made aware of today. A few people have called about the issue today so they have began testing it. They couldn't give me a time frame as to when the tests would be finished.

ems a bit odd that they only found out about it today when this forum is on the Sony site...

I'll keep you updated when/if I ever hear back from them.

Tried this but makes difference on my tablet. I cant find settings in Sound Manager that controls microphone sensitiveness.

Come on Sony, give us a solution now - please.

How in the world did this topic get labeled as "Assumed Answered"?

It certainly wasn't by me.

You will probably find Johan did it. Good forum housekeeping.

He simply passed the problem along the line and considered the problem dealt with. Unfortunately, it seems nobody knows or cares about it.

Make sure you review the tablet and link this thread. People need to see how inept Sony are.

Did anybody got a satisfactory resolution, or indeed anything at all from Sony on this issue. Just bought my Xperia Tablet Z and having the same problem. Very poor from Sony if they have not officially addressed this issue yet.

You will find that there hasn't been any resolution and that the willing ears of Johan appear to be broken.

Garbage attitude from Sony. As I have said repeatedly, ensure that you review this excellent tablet but make sure that you identify this problem.

Sony MUST have known about this before release.
