I think my phone is dead. Update

I got my phone in april of 2014. For the past couple of months, my xperia z1's battery has been draining quicker than usual. 2 days ago, it shut down from low battery so I put it on the adapter to charge. It still will not come on. The red battery light is still glowing and I can feel it reacting to me holding down the power button but nothing more. I don't know what else to do.

Update:

Went through with all suggestions including sending phone to sony to repair and paying for it to be repaired. After they didn't contact me I had to contact them. They could not repair it and did not tell me until I contacted them to ask the status of my phone. It was almost as if they forgot they were working on it. The phone was sent back. So no solution thus far. Then I read this

Hi rumpocky,

Welcome to the community,

You could try holding both the Power button and the Volume Up key for around 15 seconds, after this has been done immediately plug in a charger and keep it on charge for at least an hour. Once done see if you can power the device on.

Let us know if you have any luck.

Just put your phone on charging for 1-2 days regular. I also faced the similar problem which you are facing at this time. after 90% charging repair your phone via SONY PC COMPANION.

Went through the process with the PC companion. My phone came on and works again but the draining of the battery is still there. My phone was at 95% and after less than five minutes of web browsing, it shut off.

A new battery will help.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with Sony.  No one should have to go through this but I guess it comes with the technological and business world. I ended up sending my phone in for repair to Sony's repair center and they evaluated and tested it. They contacted me and told me that they would proceed with repairing it once I gave them approval and paid the repaired cost. I gave them the approval and paid the money.  Afterwards I didn't hear anything from them for over 21 business days so I contacted them and they told me a part was back ordered and that they were waiting on it. I contacted them a week later and was told that the part was not available and that they could not repair my phone so they will be sending my phone back and refunding me. I received my phone back unrepaired and I'm still waiting on the chance to get my money back. I was still holding on to my love of Sony products when I bought the phone in 2014, feeling that it would be just as durable as the other products I bought in the past, some of which I still use but this experience has ended that, making this the last Sony product I buy.

Still no contact from the repair center thus still no refund for the repair not completed that was promised. Problem unresolved and Sony has my money.
