Hi,

i have two xperia ion with the same problem. When i use GPS for tracking on my bicycle with locusmaps or oruxmaps it always reboots after a while, it works maybe 30 minutes or one hour but then it reboots. The same with Navigon navigation, always reboot after about 30 minutes. Both smartphones the same problem. Running on Android 4.1.2, i downgraded the phone to ics 4.0.4 but the problem was still the same.

Anybody with a good idea o maybe with the same problem??

I have a feeling it could be getting warm/hot and in order to protect itself it will switch off like a Pc or laptop will but you would normally receive a warning message

It happens with or without charging, very early in the morning on my bike with 8 degrees celsius or in the normal temperatured car, so i don't think it's a hot cold problem. I rooted, removed all unnecessary apps, used a memory optimizer with taskkiller, limited backround tasks to 2 tasks, flashed again to stockrom with only one GPS app (Locusmaps), nothing works, seems to be a hardware problem with this ions, i'm very very disappointed about the quality of this phones, both ions had also a camera problem, it didn't focus correct anymore but i solved that problem by removing the camera glass finish with a display polish. Next thing i try is a new battery.

I have exactly the same problem as you!
My xperia ion restarts (without message) a few seconds after the opening of my navigation app with gps activated.
I have tried with safe mode but without success...
Have you some freshs news on this subject? Hardware, software?

I am now hating all Xperia Phones, i was having 3 xperia, 2 have the same problem, with the GPS..the phone restarts and 1 having some other issue, until and unless sony gives any update to ion or zr, these phones are useless, infact my HTC wildfire is supported till now, without any problems...sony I trusted, but now i am fed up of this. Giving up xperia ion for free, infact donating this useless phone.
