Fingerprint reader security / standard implementation

Hi,

Is there any official information on what standards for security the fingerprint reader users?  I want to embrace fingerprint for unlocking my device but some implementations of fingerprint are pretty pants whereas some are very secure.

I think sony uses Fido Alliance for the fingerprint security,. you can find this on the app list in settings menu.
