Brand New Z5 Compact Stuck on Android is Optimizing Apps

I have a brand new Z5 Compact that cycles thru the Android is Optimizing Apps screen and then gets stuck on the Android is Updating screen.

I performed a Software Repair via Sony PC Companion. The Sony PC Companion said it completed the repair and to allow the phone to restart. It stated that it would take awhile to restart, but did not state how long. After restart the screen remained on a white splash screen. After about 3.5 hours, I performed a forced restart. This brought it back to the optimizing apps screens originally seen.

Do you have any suggested solutions?

Repair the phone once more with PCC > remove the SIM and SD cards > report back 

software repair

I followed your directions and upon restart the phone went to the white splash screen, then to the count thru apps optimization, and is now stuck on the same Android updating screen as before. Its been on this screen for over two hours now.

That's rather odd, you will have to contact your Local support

Just wondering, have you dropped the phone?

No, I have not dropped the phone. It is fresh out of the box.
