Why did my first Sony S connect to BT Fon without login but my replacement doesn't.

Within a month my first Sony S had to be returned as it just wouldn't turn on.  I was surprised to find that it connected to BT Fon wifi even though I am not a BT broadband subscriber.  It seemed quite a useful thing.  When I got my replacement it didn't connect.  Wifi works fine, just won't do what the first one did with BT Fon..

Was the first one wrong or is my current one wrong?

My suspicion is that the first one was already a returned item and it remembered the setting.  Not impressed if that is the case as I bought it 'new'.

Any thoughts?

Your laptop just auto connect to a BT Fon nearby with no password need to connect. Right now, I see that your notebook is fine it's just that it did not connect to a network automatically.
