Sony Xperia Tablet 32gb and Apple Bluetooth keyboard, how to use?

I have a Sony Xperia Tablet and tried to pair it with my Apple Bluetooth keyboard.  It pairs and shows up on the tablet but there is no input.

Tried in different apps that allow typing but cannot get it to function at all!

Any advice welcomed!

Hi again!

Strangely, it works on my Xperia S mobile phone!

I think it looks good especially as I have the stand now!

This is paired to my Xperia S mobile and it works perfectly but does look rather silly!

edit - Cradle arrived today!  Ordered through Sony and had an delivery date for next Tuesday or Wednesday!!

I think these look good together, so shame keyboard doesn't work!

after pairing, somewhere deep in Settings / Language and Inputs you have to allow the keyboard to function. this is an extra step.

this is an extra protection so your keyboard input cannot be hijacked unwillingly

Hi breedBenR!

When you say ----  somewhere deep in Settings / Language and Inputs   -- where exactly?

I have searched deep in the Settings / Language and Inputs.

I was told at XDA Deveelopers -

The Tablet S doesn't support Apple Bluetooth keyboard is because the kernel excluded module hid-apple. You can root your tablet to support it.

Please let me know the exact settings and I will try again!

it was a generic answer,

it is the same dialog as where the standard keyboard is listed.

didn't realize apple's version of bluetoothspeak was not included, the other forum is probably right.

Nothing listed under keyboards in the settings > input.

The suggest from XDA was to root, but will not do that.

After alot of fiddling about I have got mine to work...eventually. Its actually very simple.

1. Download an app called BlueInput Demo (there isnt a full version yet)

2. Turn Bluetooth on, Connect your keyboard to it BUT turn it off being an Input Device.

3. Open BlueInput and Scan for devices, when it finds your keyboard connect it and it should say it has connected successfully

4. Open up your web browseror whatever you want to type in, when the Android keyboard appears, click the little icon down in the left hand side corner and choose BlueInput.

5. Start typing - done!

The only problem is ever 100 words or so BlueInput puts in [BlueInput Demo] which can be deleted but is annoying. I read something last night I think that if you register your evice with them you get a serial number, will try that out.

Good luck!

I have the Sony case with keyboard but thought the Apple one would look cool with the Xperia Tablet S!
