WH-1000XM3 Keeps being on and drains battery

Bought these a couple of days ago, and they are great. I have them connected to my iPad Pro and works good except one thing. They don't turn them selves off when they are not used. I have the Headphones app setup with the auto turn off setting of 5 minutes. But they keep being on anyway and drains battery. Of course I can manually shut them down when I know that I won't use them in a while, like when going to sleep my self. But most often I don't know in advance. I expect them to go to sleep and save battery. After a night they have drained from 90% to 15%. The iPad is set to 2 minutes auto lock, so that isn't active either.

Are there any apparent settings I have missed or is this expected behavior? Anyone else with this problem?

Oh, yes... the firmware is 4.2.2, which they had when I got them.
