Sony WH-1000XM3 Muting in the Cold

Is there a way to turn off gesture control on the 1000XM3s? It barely works in optimal conditions and when standing outisde in cold weather they will consistently register swipes (even though nothing has touched the headphones), either turning volume up/down or skipping tracks and after about 1 minute they will mute as if I am holding my hand over the right ear. Any suggestions?

Hello @adrian_vg,

I agree, that is is great from Sony, that they were able to implement this feature before the 2019/20 winter season.

Now Sony just needs to make the WH1000Xm3-users aware of that.

Hmm, yeah, I*m a curious as to why they didn't advertise this new feature at all. Maybe admitting there was indeed a problem would make them loose face or some such.

Oh, well, as long as this allviates the problem it's all good...

I wasn't able to log in to the forum so hopefully typing this through my
email is viewable to everyone. I am on my third pair of the Sony
WH-1000XM3. The first two both had the touch panel issue. I read that
newer models (higher serial numbers starting with 6) worked better and for
my 2nd replacement demanded that (I'm from the US). I have been using the
new ones since early fall but recently it has been much colder in New
Jersey/New York (25-40 F). I am happy to report there are no issues so far
even in exposed windy conditions. It's possible that if the air because
more humid or there is moisture in the cold that this will change. But for
now all good. I am disappointed that Sony has failed to admit this issue
in the initial releases of the headphones as clearly something has been
fixed. I think they don't want to deal with replacing everyone's
headphones from the first wave of purchasers. Shame!

New winter, same issue, I've had my pair for almost a year now and still this issue isn't fixed, at least you can now disable the touchpad but it sucks to not be able to use it outside.

With my warranty almost at the end, should I try and get them repaired?
