I bought the new NW-A55L and I noticed that it rebuilds the database every time it starts up. That's fine when the database is small, but mine is going to get relatively big - I'm at least going to have around 230GB which looks like it's going to add at least 30 seconds to the start-up. It's not as if there's any good reason to assume the database has changed every time the device is turned off, so I'm hoping this isn't a major design gaff and that it can be turned off and rather done on demand, as the A105 allows. Is it possible to disable this rebuild on start-up?
Hi QSwitch,
I'll look into this for you and see if I can find anything out. Someone else in the community may be able to advise in the meantime.
Thanks,
Pascale
Hi QSwitch,
This is a normal operation of the Walkman as far as I am aware and it cannot be disabled.

Great question and if it’s not possible then maybe Sony could build this into a firmware update. I’ve got the ZX300/WM1Z and they are the same. I’ve got 300Gb of flac files and would love to skip the rebuild every power up.
