CDX GT44IP iPod/iPhone power supply.

Hello All

I have a CDX GT44IP with the permanent ipod umbilical out back in a Hyundai Terracan .

It took a little research to but I learned about the charging voltage problem and sorted it, with the exception of one minor irritation.

I only get permanent power to the iPhone when the head unit is switched on.

The full sequence is connect phone, turn on ignition, phone gets power for about 10 seconds then nothing.

Turn on head unit, power comes back on, stays on as long as head unit powered up.

Park up, switch off head unit, phone supply shuts off.

Turn off ignition, phone get power again, ten seconds later it shuts back down.

I find this a little silly as you may not want sounds on but you still want the phone to charge.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal Sony operation?

The rig is wired in via a telemute kit (after fit pre my ownership) and Hyundai are know for some strange electrics but the radio works fine and retains clock/presets so I don't think its the wiring but its obviously something switching at the wrong time.

Any ideas that don't involve changing phone/stereo/car would be appreciated.

Regards
