Hello,
I have a Vaio XL201 connected via HDMI to a Sony Bravia LCD TV. The XL201 runs Vista Home Premium.
Every now and then, the Vaio corrupts the display when it comes out of booting up or hibernate. Basically, this is where the screen is black with the occasional thin, broken red line across it (looks like a scan line). The Vaio then has to be restarted, which is a pain if I'm keen to watch a good DVD, but not a major hassle.
Anyway, Windows Update foraced me to install Vista Service Pack 1 last night. After the install and subsequent restart, the Vaio now only displays the above - the display is completely corrupted. This occurs immediately after the "(c) Microsoft Corporation" progress bar during boot, so I can't get to the glowing Windows logo or anything after that. I then ran a roll back and got Service Pack 1 out of the system, but this problem has remained. I'm now totally stuck with a system that doesn't boot with a functioning display.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and are there any suggestions as to how the problem can be overcome? I don't want to re-install Vista all over again, particularly as I have another problem re CDs, which I'll go into another time!!
Thanks in advance
Paul
