Well recently my internet keeps going down once in a while. When i was looking it showed a totally different computer connection above mine. Does it mean that the other connectino was over riding my internet connection
Hi Andrew,
How do you connect to the Internet?
If it is wirelessly, is it to your own wireless router or is it shared?
If so, what security do you have set on the wireless network (WEP, WPA)?
Where exactly did you see this other connection listed?
What model Vaio do you have?
Well its wireless but not shared internet. I sm using a wireless router. The other one that comes up is called HP computer. Everytime it happens this other one is there.
I dont know if its WEP or WPA.
Its the VGN AR11M
If you are not using any security, anyone in range of your wireless router can use your internet connection without you knowing about it!
Check your Router's instruction manual on how to enable wireless security to prevent freeloaders (or worse).
Any chance you can find out for me
What's the make and model of your router?
Its the linksys model specifically for NTL Telewest on sale in stores for 39.99 does that help or you want more detail model number. I do want to muck about with things i know nothing about at all
Have a look on the front of the router, there should be a model number.
Hello well the is called the
Linksys Wireless-G 2.4 GHz 802.11 Broadbnd Router.
Do you need any more information
Are you sure your system isn't just detecting the available networks that are in your area?
Are you right clicking on the wireless icon on the task bar to "see" this other PC?
