Ok, have upgraded to Win 10 (yes I know Sony said wait, but how long is a piece of string ..?) from Win 7 Pro 64.
By and large, very few issues - the battery monitor doesn't work (appears the same problem happens with Win 8 updates), and 2 missing drivers .. again, I've seen one of the items in Win 8 upgrade posts on the US website - hence my comment about Sony's track record on providing info! - and over there, the advice was to ask the community ...
The other thing that didn't work was the Dolby Home Theatre - driver version mismatch .. sorted that by uninstalling the existing version and using this instead ..

Last thing not working (investigating at the moment) is Intel Rapid Storage Technology .. the taskbar icon reports that the service isn't running (it is), so there's a mismatch somewhere. The application itself crashes.
Missing drivers; the first appears to be a 'Firmware Parser Extension Device' - http://community.sony.com/t5/VAIO-Software-Other-Operating/Windows-8-Upgrade-Troubleshooting-FAQ/td-... .. which also talks about the battery monitor. An educated guess tells me that the Win 8 drivers will work, so can anyone point me at them?

Turns out they were the Ricoh Card Reader bits.
