Which Operating System

Hello all,

i am in a dilemma, which operating system is best. I have a 8 month old FZ21Z and i cant make up my mind whether to use Sony's pre-installed operating system, (Windows Vista Home Premium) or use my own copy of Windows Vista Ultimate. would like some ideas on which one to use.

i think you should upgrade to vista ultimate just to make sure .

Hi Brianct,

if you do a fresh install of your own copy of Windows Vista then you will also need to purchase additional applications as you will loose the pre-installed applications such as Wind DVD, etc..

I have done this on an AR

There was no huge difference apart from having to sort out all the drivers etc and install them in right order.

You get some nice extras with ultimate eg dreamscene - however they can put an extra strain on your resources.

I liked it but went back to the Sony Home Premium and then just uninstalled some apps I won't use.

Ubuntu - just to put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Seriously though, if you don't play games and want a reliable system, then this is the one, KOffice is just as good.
