Hi i just bought a intel dual core processor and want to know if it will work in my vaio vgn-fs415b??

I know how to put it in i just dont no if it will work so i fort i would check on here first.

Hi Slick2160.

Sorry no chance. It will not work in your FS415B.

The Core processor will actually physically fit into your Socket 479 but Intel have juggled the pinouts to make Pentium M motherboards incompatible with Core/Core 2 processors. The new Socket is called Socket M.

The reason for the juggling is that your 915 chipset does not support Core processors - you need the i945 chipset.

Thanks for the reply it's a shame as i really like this laptop but oh well i'll jus have to sell the cpu on ebay get some money back :smileygrin:.
