Does anyone know if you can upgrade a VGC-VA1 memory?
There is alot of conflicting information just wondered if any1 has done it at all?
As im at a loss

welcome to Club VAIO..

According to the Sony specifications your Vaio RAM's is not upgradeable as your Vaio currently has the maximum support 1GB of RAM, use the following link to view the: VA1's Specifications ..

Thanks thats what i read but then i saw that people had said they had upgraded with no problems at all just confused me a bit .
I love me VAIO just want a bit more doing and not so much waiting around lol.

hi thalamus, i read this post with interest and now i am also confused as only last week i went to my local sony centre and asked one of the reps/engineers if it was poss to add more memory on my VGC-VA1 and he said you just order a stick of ram from a website ( the name of which i have since forgotten) and insert it in the back of the computor with anti-static gloves.
having read the va1 specs it does say 'not upgradable' so has this dealer given me false info as it seemed strange at the time as it is not a desktop but more like a laptop on a stand.hope u didn't mind me butting into someones post! regards,ardbrand

Well it appears TD4 (in the other thread) has upgraded the RAM in his VA1 to 2GB..

He states that he ordered the 1GB RAM modules listed in the email (posted here ) from Crucial.com

Further down the thread Rich77 posts that he has upgraded his RAM but does state what he has installed, at a guess I would say he has installed 2x1GB modules also..

However at the end of the day if you wish to upgrade the RAM in your VA1 it would have to be your choice..
