Uncontrollable touch-pad pointer

I have an E Series Vaio laptop.  On a few occasions, after "sleep" mode the touch pad pointer has become uncontrolable.  Has anyone encountered a similar problem?  I would much appreciate any advice.

Have a look in Vaio Control Centre at the Touchpad settings.  Try disabling some of the more exotic touchpad functions if you don't use them.  You can find out what these functions like 'pinch' do from your User Guide.

You can try reinstalling the touchpad driver and see if that helps but I am aware of several long standing 'resume from sleep' issues with Windows 7 still awaiting a fix.
