Hi Gang,
I got a Vaio TZ21 and the DVD drive needs to be replaced, it wont power up at all and may be dead.
I been given a quote by a Sony authorised repair centre at 389.00 plus VAT for a replacement drive to be fitted!!!
I can obtain one for just under 60.00.
How easy is it to fit this in the TZ21 as I am a bit worried I don't want to wreck my unit with a botched up job.
Any advice would be welcomed.
Cheers all

Looks like this forum is a little *quiet*...
Not posting as a direct reply to above, as I presume you've probably resolved your issue by now, but more for anyone else in a similar position.
Having just stripped one of these (VGN-TZ21VN) with a failing HDD I'd say that replacement of the CD drive should be fairly straight forward if you've ever done any service type work on laptops. Quite fiddley to dismantle, but with a bit of patience and a set of precision screwdrivers they come apart relatively easily (not as awkward as a MacBook), but internals are not as easy to swap out as a larger laptops where they're often under flaps, or can be replaced by removing a couple of screws and pulling parts out...
NUT.
