I have a Sony Vaio VGN-AR51J which has been working fine, until now. The screen has gone all weird, flashing and lines all over it and i can hardly read anything.
It seems like the fan doesn't seem to be working correctly as the laptop is becoming very hot.
Also I noticed that on the system screen within the control panel it is stating I have 3GB of memory when it should have 4GB as I upgraded it.
If it is worth cleaning the fan or something, please advise how i do this.
Any help would be apprechaited as it cost a lot of money and do not really want to buy a new one.
Thanks
Paul
You can try cleaning the fan - if you send me an e-mail address by PM, I will send you the manual as a .PDF.
1. Try connecting your Vaio to an external monitor to see if the same problem is present there.
2. Try entering the BIOS screens by tapping F2 during boot - is the problem still present?
Are you still running the original OS?
