hi will my vgn-fz31s bought in uk play us/canadian dvd's if not is there a fix ?thanks

Hi dolbero and welcome to Club Vaio.

You can change your DVD or BD Region on your FZ31S to Region 1 and play discs from the USA and Canada.

Unfortunately, you can only change this Region 5 times before the drive locks on the Region at that time - so you cannot play both Region 1 and Region 2 discs - you have to pick one Region.

Your Vaio has the Matshita UJ-220B BD drive - so there is no fix for this as Matshita is probably the only type of drive that will not work with the various software 'solutions' available.

The only answer is an external drive for one of the Regions or re-burn DVDs as Region Free.

thanks for that how do i change the drive from region 2 to 1 ? i only want to watch one region 1 dvd!

Open WinDVD BD and right-click on the WinDVD BD screen.

Choose Settings -> Region.

You can change the Region for DVD and Blu-Ray separately by using the drop down box and choosing Region 1.
