Hi,
I have just taken delivery of my AR51SU. After reading the instructions (no honestly I did
) I clicked on the Vaio update before creating my recovery disc. After doing all of the automatic updates I moved on to the manual ones you have to click on. I now have no sound !!!
I also got a message at one point saying one of the nVida updates may not have installed correctly becuase it was a different version of windows.
Is there any way of doing a 'facotry reset' without having created the recovery disc?
Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks
Obokeeper
Hi Mark,
Have a look at Page 35 and 36 in the Recovery and Troubleshooting Guide - download here: -

Good Luck!!

Hi Mark,
after installing SigmaTel Audio Driver 6.10.5614.0 occasionally the audio settings are reset to factory defaults.
To check the audio settings have not been reset to factory defaults do the following..
Click Start, then Control Panel.
Click Hardware and Sound, then Manage Audio Devices.
In the sound window click on Playback or Recording tabs to change audio settings..
Hi and thanks to both of you for your replies.
Thalamus - just read your post before doing another factory reset and boy was I pleased I did. Did what you suggested and the default audio device had changed from the speakers. Just made them the default again
and everything is working fine now  Cheers.
