PCG-7F1M Driver download

Hello,

I recently had my hard drive go pop. I have re-installed XP proffessional but not that I have no sound. In device manager there are several items that don't have drivers.

Can anyone tell me where I can download new drivers please. Had no luck with Sony. Am retired so freeby would be of particular interest.

Hi PryusBoy,

You are quoting the model chassis number but if you look on the screen surround you will probably find the product number is VGN-FJ1Z/W or similar. If it is that model you will find the original drivers on the Sony support site under preinstalled drivers – original drivers package.

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/VGN-FJ1Z_W/updates

Bear in mind that with XP it was necessary to install High Definition audio driver before the audio driver. If this is not included with the original drivers package then have a look here:

Hi Rich912

Not quite out of the woods yet. My XP disk decided to stop working after I dropped a labeller on it. I wonder why? Um not suprising really.

Anyway I bought a WIn 7 Home as I thought I may as well as support for XP was coming to an end. I have got the laptopworking with two exceptions....

1. In Devices Manager, Video controller hasn't got a driver, went on to try to let it find one on line, no good.

2. I don't seem to be able to copy my recordings I made on CD to the hard drive.

Can you please assist me.

Thanks for your help so far.

Hi PyrusBoy,

You haven’t confirmed your product number but if it is a VGN-FJ1Z/W or similar you will note that there is limited support from Sony for this model with both Vista and Windows 7. For the Graphics driver you will probably need to resort to a driver with a modified inf. file assuming that a Windows 7 driver is available for your graphics chip – I believe this model uses an Intel graphics chip but I don’t know which one.

The copying problem sounds like a permission issue. Do you receive any error message? Have you tried copying from other media to the hard drive?

Hi nasro1988,

As per my reply to PyrusBoy I think you will find the correct product name is VGN-FJ1Z. Can you please check this in Vaio Control Center > System Information.

If that is the correct model then you will find any available drivers at the following link. Depending on which operating system you are running you may find that support is limited.
