Hello Viao experts ,I know I have asked this before but no one had an answer at the time(not a critism so much else was going on with the launch of Vista & resulting operating problems. It may appear trivial but it irritates me no end I can not change Office Assistant when I try I get the following error message "Not enough memory to complete opereration. I can not get any help from e-support or microsoft each say its the other's problem. The operating system is Home Premium with Student & Teacher.
Many Thanks

I thought office assistants were phased out after the office 2000 release. Can you supply a screen shot of the problem?

How much RAM do you have?

Having just worked out how to get the office assistant in office 2003 (Didn't even know it was there!) i also found that the message you described is true.

I can only assume that it is a vista bug. Don't think there will be a fix because not many people like the assistant.

Will have to stick with old Clippy i am afraid!

Hi Sigm,

I found this work around posted on the net, unfortunately there are no replies to say if the solution worked or not..

Not a fix, just a work-around:

Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Program >
Highlight MS Office 2003. click on Change Program.
Click Custom Install > Expand Office Assistant and make all the assistants
unavailable (by right click) EXCEPT the assistant you want. Next time you
start Office, your chosen assistant appears by default. (Gallery still reads
"not enough memory..." though.)
