I am running a XL 201 vista media center which comes with a lot of sony software. One or some of these application use a sql server express database instance named MSSQL$VAIO_VEDB. MS published an update for sql server express which failed an I started to investigate the root cause. According the eventlog the metadata (in sys tables )and the data are out of sync. MS Knowledgebase Articles suggest du deinstall SQL SERVER EXPRESS and playback a backup.
And that is were the problem begins... Are there any backups of that db? does Sony writes backups of there database? To which application does this DB belong so maybe I can reinstall the whole application! And what data are stored in there?... to get a feeling for my lost data as well as the impact of the damage...
