Hi, i just bought my vaio and i can't find the line-in source!
If anyone knows how to sort this out pls let me know asap.
thanks
Hi Ray and welcome.
What model have you bought - they are all different.
Many Vaios do not have a sepatate Line-In socket and you will have to use the Mic-In socket which works like a line-in socket. It uses a standard 3.5 mm stereo jack.

If your model doesn't have a line-in or mic-in you might want to consider an external usb soundcard.
Hi, I have a VGN-FW31E.
I tried recording streaming online audio, but there isn't a input of line-in option to record it. I only have mic as an input source and no line-in.
Any help and advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ah - it is not a Line In you want it is the internal 'Stereo Mix' recording feature.
Unfortunately Sony have disabled the Stereo Mix feature on all Vaios running Vista so you cannot record streamed music internally. Sony presumably thinks this will reduce piracy of music.
As far as I know there is no fix without buying an external soundcard.
You could wire the Headphone jack to the Microphone jack - but the quality may leave something to be desired.
