Help! Vaio VGN-FE11H

Hello,

I'm trying to update my drivers for my Vaio VGN-FE11H (Laptop) BUT when I install the drivers they still say 2005.

I play World of warcraft and without the latest drivers, I can't play WoW without many errors!

(The errors are due to OUT OF DATE drivers)

So, could anyone link the website where I can download 2007 drivers for my Vaio VGN-FE11H laptop. Also here's my drivers so you can see that they're still 2005 AFTER installing them.

Thanks

Hi Maltesers68

Have you tried installing the Nvidia 7400 driver update 8.3.2.0 which is available to download from here ..?

Yes that's the driver I downloaded, but, as you can see in this Photo It states 2005, so, it's still out of date after installing the driver

Hi Maltesers68

Did you follow this Install procedure:

1. Download the driver
2. Rename the C:\Drivers\Video or the C:\Drivers\Video2 to C:\Drivers\Video0
3. Browse to the directory where you downloaded the update to.
4. Double click NVDVID-01098207-UN.exe to execute it
5. Use "Add or Remove Programs" to remove the Nvidia drivers
6. Click "Yes" when you are prompted to restart your VAIO
7. After the restart the "Found New Hardware Wizard" will be shown *1 no wizard is shown
8. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click "Next"
9. Check the checkbox in front of "Include this location in the search"
10. Click "Browse" and browse to "C:\Update\NVDVID-01098207" and click "OK"
11. Click "Next" (Please note that this process will take some time and your screen will flicker during the update but this is normal)
12. Click "Finish" once this button becomes available *1 An other "Found New Hardware Wizard" is shown
13. Restart Your VAIO

I've just downloaded the drivers and the inf file states the DriverVer = 12/15/2005, 8.3.2.0

so it appears you have the correct drivers installed..

Edit morning Blencogo, yes it would appear the correct drivers are installed, took me a while to download the file.. :smileyblush:

Morning Thalamus!

It looks like the 'new' driver has installed as the version says 8.3.2.0.

This driver was probably first beta'd in December 2005 and was released by Sony in March 2006. So the dates are probably right.

Maltesers68 - If you want to try an 'unofficial' more up-to-date beta nVidia driver, have a look here: -

There are some risks with using a beta driver but you can always 'Roll Back Driver' if your FE11 gets too hot!!

4. Click "Device Manager"
5. Double click "Display Adapters"
6. Right click "Nvidia Geforce Go 7400" and select "Properties"
7. Select the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver"
8. Select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and click "Next"
9. Check the checkbox in front of "Include this location in the search"

What are the risks using beta drivers?

I think I'm doing something wrong when I install the drivers.

When I do Start>Control panel>Add/Remove Programs / Remove Nvidia drivers. Reboot PC. ok. Then when my PC reboots, the drivers reinstall on their own? So then I downloaded the driver using this method :

I do not get a "Found New Hardware Wizard"

1. Right Click "My Computer"
2. Select "Properties"
3. Select the "Hardware" tab
4. Click "Device Manager"
5. Double click "Display Adapters"
6. Right click "Nvidia Geforce Go 7400" and select "Properties"
7. Select the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver"

12. Click "Finish" once this button becomes available *1 An other "Found New Hardware Wizard" is shown
13. Restart Your VAIO
