Hi,
When I bought my laptop last year it came with XP MCE.
About April time I went to vista; and a few days ago I went back to XP MCE.
Unfortunately the recovery disks didnt work (typical). If i tried to use the recovery disks then it would get to 11% every time then just hang for 30 minutes until I got an error message about an error in streaming.
Anyway, so I've had to use a clean XP MCE installtion with no sony drivers.
I've downloaded all the sony drivers and utils and installed them...
Now my Fn keys don't work. And if I change any settings in the vaio power management then they dont take effect at all.
I've noticed that HKeys.exe won't open either.
And sometimes when I try to open some of the vaio programs it tells me I'm not using a VAIO PC????
Can anyone help with this please.
Thanks
Hello,
For the brightness I'm still searchinf for a solution. I have a vaio FE41M and I'm using the driver and utilities for the FE31M.
I think you need to find a laptop that is almost the same has yours and to get the driver for xp on the vaiolink support. If you give the model an expert will tell you more. If you have the same as me, I will be able to help you.

But they didnt work either
AND my touchpad drivers won't install!! so i cant turn off tapping
Hi bobtastic,
Did you try using the HDD recovery partition to restore your Vaio to XP MCE?
To do this (as long as the recovery partition is still intact) start your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo press F10 repeatedly, the recovery utility should then start..
Alternatively if you wish to keep your current set-up download the pre-installed Utilities for your model Vaio from HERE
Once downloaded extract and then install the following utilities, in order, this usually resolves the FN key problem.
1 Sony Utilities
2 Sony Shared Library
3 Vaio Event Service
Once completed then re-boot your vaio.
You may have to do this more than once..
