DVD read and write failure

Hi

My DVD drive on the PCG-GRT816S (Pioneer DVD-RW K12D) is failing to write to DVD-R disks, and it Nero it gives the error "internal target failure". The drive is not reading them as well. However it seems to handle normal 700mb CDs well. Any ideas? I tried reinstalling drivers, to no avail..

Hi Sul, long time no see.

Sounds to me like the laser is going in the drive (there are 2, one for CD and one for DVD).

I would speak to VAIO Link about it.

I've just created an e-support case. Do you or anyone else have any idea of how much it would cost to get it fixed/replaced?
