I know Raid 0 is basically merging the 2 physical HDD into 1 recognizable HDD in windows... but what are the advantages? I mean if i want to install the Mac OS or Vista, sure I will need a seperate partition, and in this case, pref. physically! On that note, has anyone manage to install Mac OsX in thier VAIO as I am planning to try it.
The main advantage is the speed as you can read or write both drives very quickly (almost twice) but the main disadvantage is that if one drive fails you lose all your data. This is because the data is writen in "stripes" across both drives.
Here is some information about RAID. You are able to do RAID 0 and 1. Personally i would go for 1 and then you have an automatic backup if one of the drives gives up, the draw back being that you only have half the space
As i understand it, it is not possible to install OSX on a pc as apple include a particular chip that it checks to make sure its a proper apple machine. Try it and see and let me know if it does work.

EDIT: Have a look at this for getting OSX to work with a PC (It is in a virtual machine)
No no... not planning to run through an emulator.. I was looking to put the OS in a seperate partition... Its somewhere else... will need to find the info somewhere lol
Well in that case you need the apple TPM chip as i understand it and you don't so i don't think it'll install but you can try.
There is this site that i found although i do not no the legality of it so do it at your own risk.

Cheers matty... I'll give it a bash next week sometime
