Coffee killed my notebook

ok my lovely 3month old notebook got coffee spilt over it, i turned it off by tapping the power button, because i have it set to shut down the comp fully when i tap it, though i was in the middle of a game, um Rome Total war actually. Anyways i ran to get a cloth and soaked as much of it up off the keyboard as i could, even yelled at my bro to get the vacuum cleaner to try suck some up, i think about 50-75ml went into it, kinda all over the keyboard.

Only it looked like it was all clean i tried to turn it on and it wouldnt go, the power light was on and there was a very quiet whirling, like it was in hibernation, but i couldnt get it back on. I took the main plug out and phoned my dad bout what to do; then i held it upside downa t an angle and wahey more coffee came out the corner of the keyboard. I propped it upside down and put a desk fan beside it, hoping it would help, it didnt.

The battery i think is now dead, when i plug it in the charing light doesnt even come up, we think the notebook mayhave a wet sensor thing in it or soemthin? to stop any of the power from the plug getting in so it wont damage the system or short circuit or something. Anyways everything is now totally dead, it wont come on or anything. we took out the battry and it was dry, took the bit off the top of the memory and it was dry. Then we lifted up the sheet covering the hard drive and there was a bit of coffee drippin off it, we cleaned that up, i dont think it got inside the hardrive but i cant be sure... looks waterproof, didnt damage anything when lookin at it... unless the coffee did, but thats different. Turned it on still doesnt work

So i would like to ask anyone who could help, what do i do now? can it be repaired? it would probably need cleaned but i dont want to take the whole bottom off just encase something else happens, and even if i cleaned it by takin it all out and wiping it, would that even help? is there a sensor that needs repaired?

thanx for listening

Hi bhchild,

I think your Vaio is going to need a repair, so the first thing to do is talk to Sony support.

This sort of problem is not covered by the Sony warranty, so check your Household Insurance to see if you are covered for accidental damage.

It depends on how much fluid got into the Vaio. At best you will need a new keyboard - at worst the motherboard may need replacement.
